BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA

(1992) dir. Francis Ford Coppola; 128 min.

Friday, October 30th & Saturday, October 31st @ 7 & 9:30pm

Sunday, November 1st @ 3pm

Though Francis Ford Coppola's film certainly strays from Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula (for example, the entire Mina loves Dracula storyline!), the director of the Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now delivers a visually gorgeous and gory film, giving you numerous reasons to see yet another vampire film this year. For one, you get Gary Oldman as Count Dracula. Two: It’s Halloween weekend. Three: This version is made eerie and interesting by Coppola's refusal to use modern digital technology for the special effects, as he opted instead for old-school cinematic trickery (most of it in-camera with no post-production effects). Four: You can laugh your ass off as Keanu tries to speak with a believable British accent. And, a bonus: Tom Waits as the bug-addicted and possessed lunatic Renfield. All combined, it makes for a frightfully delicious Halloween film.
