It is 1947 and India is about to explode into ethnic violence as British colonial rule ends and the country is partitioned into two nations, mostly Hindu India and mostly Muslim Pakistan. These momentous changes are observed by Lenny (Maia Sethna), the 8-year-old daughter of a well-to-do Parsi family in Lahore. As Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs slaughter one another in the streets, old friends become deadly enemies.
